At first, it was just an idea. ...just a crackpot caper to ride a bike from Boston to Portland, looking for a pint of Guinness at the end of the trail. I was able to sandbag a few hardy friends, and we had our first year, 6-rider ride... check out the gallery, it was an incredible day. We're an all-volunteer, non-professional fundraising ride... we exist by the hard work of our unpaid, overworked, devoted volunteers. Nobody takes a salary from this, none of our donations or sponsors goes to anybody on our staff. Because of this, there are a lot of frills that we can't guarantee... but there's one important thing we DO guarantee. ALL of our contributions go to the Foundation for Neuroligical Disease, and ALL of those funds go to research! "I've done a bit of fundraising bike riding, but, when someone very close to me was diagnosed with Parkinsons, I found no rides to ride. So, I made my own. I figure whatever I can do is better than not doing anything. Maybe, if I can talk someone into riding with me, I can do even better than that. Who knows?" -Ted Dillard That year, the first year, was 2005, and with only 6 riders we earned $3500 for Parkinson's research and opened up a bunch of new doors. In 2006 we exploded, my goal was $50,000, and we did it! Our total was over $60,000... Check out the gallery, check out the links to the left... there's a lot here, and it was a great ride! Who knows what will happen next year? Our goal for this year? We're going to break 100K! Thanks for your interest, and I hope you join us, in whatever way you can. b2p on Blogger: http://boston2portland.blogspot.com/ b2p on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/boston2portland b2p on MySpace: www.myspace.com/boston2portland |

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead |
